HackGBGay Code of Conduct

Hack Gbgay is a fully independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation with funding support coming primarily from sponsors. We host a Queer IT-Security Conference every year with the intent to teach and spark curiosity among queer people about IT security.

All attendees, sponsors, volunteers and organizers at our conference are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organisers will enforce this code throughout the conference. We expect cooperation from all participants to ensure a safe environment for everybody.

Discrimination

You shall not discriminate against any individual or group, irrespective of sex, age, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, political views, disability or impairment. Nor shall you discriminate against anyone on account of their social position or national affiliation, trade union or mutualist activities; religious beliefs; physical appearance; last name; place of residence; state of health, impairment or disability; precariousness of economic situation, apparent or known to the author of the decision; computing experience or lack of; chosen programming language or tech stack.

Communication

For any photo taken or video made, you shall ask for prior authorisation from the person concerned or their legal representative (minor or under guardianship). Prior authorisation cannot be obtained under pressure or in exchange for an individual service. When a photo is taken or a video is made, with the appropriate prior authorisation, you shall always ensure that the person is not depicted in a degrading or sexually suggestive way. You must always use respectful words and the people’s names when speaking to them and to other persons or communicating on them. You shall keep the conference free of all pornographic material. Nor shall you use the technical equipment such as computers etc. that the organizers provides to look at or disseminate pornographic material. All involvement with child pornography is totally prohibited.

Alcohol

During the conference, consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited.

Sexual harassment

No participant, organizer, sponsor, or volunteer shall be subjected to sexual harassment. By sexual harassment here is meant unwelcome behaviour based on gender or unwelcome behaviour of a sexual nature that violates the integrity of the person.

Witnessing Unethical Behaviour

If you believe that a participant, organizer, sponsor, or volunteer is behaving in a fraudulent, corrupt manner or contrary to this Code of Ethics, do not hesitate to contact a member of Hack Gbgay organisation. You can confidentiality report your concerns directly at gbgay@proton.me. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organisers may take any action they deem appropriate. This includes warning the offender, expulsion from the conference, or reporting their behaviour to local law enforcement.
